Academics

Evergreen Academy is committed to helping students in grades 9 to 12 work towards academic success and personal growth. Our program emphasizes personalized learning plans that address each student's unique strengths and weaknesses while allowing each student to express themselves freely.

Program

Students at Evergreen Academy are part of a curriculum designed to develop academic skills and critical thinking. Our program covers core subjects and other opportunities that prepare students for higher education and life beyond school.

  • English Language Arts: Students explore literature while developing reading, writing, researching, speaking, and thinking skills. Courses include each grade level’s core English class, Debate, and Journalism. Students are expected to be strong communicators and readers.

  • Mathematics: Our mathematics program spans from foundational skillsets to advanced skillsets, including Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. Students are expected to apply mathematical principles learned to the real world and be able to complete data analysis exercises.

  • Sciences: The science curriculum involves hands-on learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Students in Biology explore how life functions and grows through the study of cellular processes, genetics, and human anatomy. Chemistry covers chemical reactions and lab experiments, while Physics explores concepts such as motion, energy, and electricity and magnetism.

  • Social Studies: Students study history and government in order to understand the world around them through research projects, debates, and case studies. Courses include U.S. History, World History, Art History, and Civics. Students are expected to be able to explain cause and effect relationships and cite sources accurately.

  • Physical Education/Health: Students learn how to become active with their bodies through team sports, cardiovascular exercises, and weight training. This course is required every year, unless under special circumstances such as physical disability.

  • Business/Technology: Students learn how to manage their finances and understand how computers operate. Courses include Personal Finance, Accounting, Intro to Business, Intro to Python, Intro to Java and Cybersecurity.
